Z-Helene-- Helene teaches at Austin Community College. Classes are offered during the year in two 16-week and one 11-semester and are usually held on Saturday afternoons.

DANCE AND DRUM INTERACTIVE (All Levels)
WEDNESDAYS   6:30PM-8PM, 6-weeks, June 18--July 23, $90 for series, $18 walk-in

This class is very special. It is for dancers and drummers both! In it we will explore the interaction of structure and improvisation between dancer and drummer. Rick and I will co-teach it. During the first 45 minutes the class will split up with Rick working with the drummers on technique and specific drum riffs and I'll be working with the dancers on technique and combinations to the drum riffs. During the second 45 minutes the two groups come together and VOILA!!! Great art is created! Besides learning the specific riffs and combinations (think scripted and choreographed), we will save time for the dancers and drummers to completely improvise mini-shows with each other. This is going to be fun!!! Plus, those of you who want to can have the opportunity to perform live drum and dance at our new KICK BUTT COFFEE house gig on Saturday, June 28th, 8-10:30PM (free, tips).

 

BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE
Thursdays  7PM-8:15PM, 6-weeks, June 18--July 23, $72 for series, $15 walk-in

Increase your technical level, finger cymbal skills and choreographic abilities. This class will work you hard in an enjoyable way. It is for those of you who have been studying and want to go onto a new level with your dance. And for those of you who have been out of belly dancing for some time, it will solidify those dance chops that may have gotten sloppy or just plain unused. Come on and dance! Plan to sweat!

   KICK BUTT BELLY DANCE at KICK BUTT COFFEE!!!  

 

We have a monthly belly dance and drum gig! It's at Kick Butt Coffee, www.kickbuttcoffee.com. Located at 5775 Airport Blvd, this coffee house is central (next to Specs at 290 and Airport) and is a very nice air-conditioned venue for our drum and dance improvisation shows. Our shows are on the last Saturday of the month from 8PM to 10:30PM. 

Plus, and we know some of you will LOVE this, Kick Butt Coffee serves alcohol as well as coffee treats. They have a FULL BAR~ Mixed drinks and all.

So, come and get your live summer belly dance and drum fix. YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT!!! WE AIM TO SERVE IT UP!!!
