Images Info

The images that appear on this website come from a variety of sources and I thought that a separate page was in order detailing the different contributions that individuals had made.

First come the dancers. Besides Z-Helene there are several other dancers whose images grace our site. In each case their name and info about where their performance took place appear under the photo. On this website dancers are paramount!

Next come the photographers. I took many of the pictures myself. In addition there are images by Alan Pogue, Lisa Davis, Juanita Smith and Pandora. There are several pictures whose origin is unknown to me and if I find out who took them I will give them credit.

In cases such as video stills authorship is complex. As director and editor ownership of video images belongs to me, but others have contributed as well. The technical director gets part of the credit. His job was to coordinate the camera operators during the live, three camera shoots. He was in constant communication with them over their headsets telling them want shots he wanted and he was responsible for putting the images on video tape.

The camera operators deserve some of the credit too. They are the one who actually recorded the image and their skill and timing were essential to the video. In some cases they were following the technical director's directions and in some cases they were acting on there own initiative. In either case they were the ones who actually took the picture. Both the technical directors and camera operators names and credits are given on the videos.

Make-up artists helped make the dancers beautiful and lighting people made them see-able and they are listed on the videos as well.

As director I set up the camera layout, designed the basic lighting, and pretty much determined the look of the shoot. As editor I selected the images I wanted to use as stills, rendered them digitally and removed the field of motion from them. Here an intense editing occurs as excellent sequences of motion don't always produce stills of equal quality.

Once all the images are assembled they go through digital editing. Here they were further cleaned up and in some cases altered. Finally they go out over the internet for you to see them.

Some of the images were taken at dance events and in these cases the name of the event will appear under the photo. The individuals who sponsor dance events are a major part of our dance scene and they deserve credit as well.

As you can see a lot of people were involved and each one made a necessary contribution to the final images. How do I thank them all? What I've decided is this, under each image I give the subjects name and the video name or event they performed at. Next I'll give the photographers' name and if appropriate the digital artist name, unless they are untouched or I did them myself.

Finally there are music files on this site. While the musicians are credited on both the cassettes and the videos some thanks are due on this page. I would like to thank Michael Fink and Eve Kuniansky for their contributions.

   Sincerely, Rick Fink
